“They Can’t Breathe”: A Salute to NYC’s Finest

0

What did we expect from this chant? “What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want them? Now!” Nothing good could come out of such evil words. Two New York Police officers, Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos, were murdered execution style by a 28-year-old black male named Ismaaiyl Abdullah Brinsley who may have been radicalized by the Muslim Brotherhood. Additionally, he may have suffered from some form of mental illness. Frankly, I’m not sure which of the two contributed more to the shooting, but you can bet the left-wing media will make a case for the latter.

In the aftermath of the Ferguson riots it seems no cops are safe in America. Black youths are equally endangered as long as racepreneurs like President Obama, Mayor De’ Blasio, Eric Holder, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and their cohorts on the Left continue to lead “conversations” on race. Brinsley may have pulled the trigger, but figuratively speaking, these racepreneurs are just as responsible for loading his weapon.

I suspect we won’t see Lebron James rockin’ an “I Can’t Breathe” t-shirt in support of New York’s finest. I seriously doubt that the players from the St. Louis Rams will hold up bullet shattered driver and passenger side car windows in protest of the heinous shooting before running onto the football field. What I can predict is increased crime in urban neighborhoods because fewer people will be inclined to become cops. Tensions and distrust between police officers and the black community will remain high– eventually invoking more phony protest and more deaths. Lastly, we know that two families have a lifetime of healing ahead of them as they attempt to make sense of it all. However, there is a solution to sending this racial wave back into the 60’s where it belongs. Hire new leaders.

Ismaaiyl Brinsley may have thought that he exacted revenge for a just cause before committing suicide. He didn’t. His death will be in vain. There’s no progress when your “struggle” is built upon a false premise. The racepreneurs that have temporarily risen to prominence during the Obama era by riling up black people will fade like a deep red t-shirt washed in hot water and placed in the dryer too many times, but the lasting damage of their efforts will wreak havoc on black communities for generations to come.

Black neighborhoods don’t need fewer cops, they need more of them. The reason is simple, fewer dads in the homes means more crime in the streets. Police in the ‘hood don’t just “protect and serve,” they babysit. Isn’t it a shame that racepreneurs and protestors may have caused the same brave cops that ran into the World Trade Centers to run away from the ‘hood?

This notion that you can have a reasonable conversation between cops and blacks on the issue of race when “leaders” like President Obama, Eric Holder and Mayor De’ Blasio have publicly taken sides is laughable. What is not laughable is a black man responding to their words by murdering officers like they’re sitting ducks. This style of leadership will only cause additional vitriol towards cops, and targeting police for violence will understandably make them anxious towards black suspects. This isn’t rocket science.

Human nature dictates not all cops will be good guys, but most of them are. They want to do a good job and return home to their families at the end of the day like everyone else. Officer Ramos’ 13-year-old-son Jaden shouldn’t have had to post this statement on Facebook:

“Today I had to say bye to my father. He was there for me everyday of my life, he was the best father I could ask for. It’s horrible that someone gets shot dead just for being a police officer. Everyone says they hate cops but they are the people that they call for help. I will always love you and never forget you. RIP Dad.”

Romans (NIV) 13:-4 tells us “For rulers hold no terror for those who do right, but for those who do wrong. Do you want to be free from fear of the one in authority? Then do what is right and he will commend you. (4) For he is God’s servant to do you good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword for nothing. He is God’s servant, an agent of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.” Ghetto fabulous translation: if you don’t want to be hassled by cops don’t break the damn law.

Officer Ramos and Officer Liu didn’t deserve our scorn. They definitely didn’t deserve to be ambushed and have their bodies pumped full of bullets. What they deserve, what most cops deserve, are our accolades. This is coming from a former criminal.

Hands Up, Won’t Shoot: Black Protest Isn’t Black Progress

0

Blacks didn’t begin rioting in America until white Communists taught them how. In fact, the Watts riots were the first urban race riots driven by blacks.

Acting a fool has never affected change for the better. Eric Garner is dead due in part to excessive liberal regulations. Michael Brown is dead because he beat down a cop, attempted to take his gun and then charged the officer as if he were trying out for the NFL. Berkeley students, burdened and trained in the art of “white privilege”, are incensed because their professors tell them they should be. And though Al Sharpton has lost a lot of weight, his pockets continue to grow fat despite his irrelevance. In the end, with the exception of more regulation to spark more protest, the riots and picket signs will all be for naught.

Recently, I decided to research the Watts riots of 1965 that took place in Los Angeles at the height of the civil rights movement. What I found may surprise you. It seems whether we’re talking about the Watts riot, the Detroit rendition, or Ferguson, their commonality seems to be a disproportionate response based on half-truths at best. In a 2005 article written by John McWhorter entitled “Burned, Baby, Burned,” he sums up the Watts riots as the place in history “when the militant became mainstream in a ‘fed-up’ black America.”  According to McWhorter “only in the 1960s did a significant number of blacks start treating rebellion for its own sake – rebellion as performance, with no plan of action behind it – as political activism.”

That’s where we are today. Cookie-cutter rioting for the sake of being loud and being seen has replaced the gradualist movement that was successful in bringing about constructive and legislative change by the likes of Martin Luther King Jr., his brother A.D. King, John Lewis, and Rosa Parks, just to name a few. Ask yourself if this sounds familiar. The Watts riot began when rumors started that two white cops had beaten a pregnant black woman in South Central Los Angeles. In actuality, the officers pulled over a black drunk driver and subdued him only after he resisted arrest.  But what would cause blacks to go so far as to burn down their own neighborhoods? The short answer is white hippies.

When young white activists became disenchanted with establishment norms, racism, political censorship, perceived social injustice, poverty in urban America and subsequently the Vietnam war, they used protest, altercation and arrest to gain televised exposure. Black academic disputers like Stokely Carmichael took notice and copied them. Suddenly, one’s “blackness” was measured by a quantum of rebellion towards white America, and riots were the perfect tool. Although this new culture of black authenticity gave rise to black artists and intellectuals, black poverty was often left in its wake. Ironically, in an attempt to rebel against the white establishment, the new black activists played right into their liberal hands.

Unfortunately, Columbia University professors Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven capitalized on this new blackness and notoriously encouraged blacks to seek welfare rather than accept low-level jobs. They even “taught a squadron of activists, many of them black women, to stage rallies across the country and disrupt public meetings calling for welfare to be easier to get, more generous and easier to stay on,” in the words of John McWhorter.

This new form of black protest and agitation has been more destructive in black communities than beneficial to say the least. Whether we’re talking about Watts, Detroit, or black communities in Indiana, the manifestation of black riots has been high unemployment, decreased property values and increased welfare recipients. Far too many businesses leave, never to return, and new businesses are discouraged from moving into “hot spots” where riots or protests have occurred.  Inevitably, without a miracle from God, Ferguson will suffer the same fate.

Sadly, black protestors have exchanged clever prose and picket signs for prosperity. Riots don’t work! They seldom if ever have any lasting positive impact, except to create more stringent government regulation, and line the pockets of the demagogues and elitists who cheer them on.

Black Thugs Aren’t Black Hereos

4

If America wants to move beyond racism we must first move past the Democrat party. The black community is virtually void of “American pride” because we don’t know our American history and we don’t trust our God.

Can you imagine a Mount Rushmore erected with the faces of black heroes of the past? Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass , George Washington Carver, Jackie Robinson, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr. and Hiram Rhodes Revels (the first black ever elected to congress during Reconstruction) are just a few that come to mind. Now picture the faces of Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin (hoodie included) memorialized into that same mountain top alongside any of the two above mentioned heroes. You can’t can you?

As America awaits for the Clayton, Missouri grand jury to decide whether or not criminal charges will be brought against officer Darren Wilson, I contend we should’ve never gotten to this point. As heart wrenching as it is to witness any youth die too soon, Michael Brown’s story should have never made it past the local news. In fact, if officer Darren Wilson were either a black officer or a black thug it wouldn’t have! Liberals avoid nationalizing stories of blacks killing blacks because it doesn’t fit their “America is a racist country” narrative. I can’t help but to imagine how minority lives would be drastically changed for the better, and even spared, if  media cameras were often turned away from white police officers and towards young black thugs. Perhaps, it would begin a wave of introspection in the ‘hood like never before.

It’s no coincidence that the flames of racial tension were set ablaze during the 2012 presidential campaign after the death of Trayvon Martin, and yet again for Michael Brown who was killed on the eve of this year’s midterms. Liberals, whether in the media or government,  “never let a good crisis go to waste.” Unfortunately, it’s the families and communities of the victims that are left behind that pay the price of the Left’s irresponsible race baiting long after the media has left the scene, and democrats have driven another phony racist narrative in order to keep black voters mad and others divided. Apparently, it’s acceptable to hold police officers in places like Ferguson, Missouri accountable for the death of a black teen as long as the officer is white, but God forbid blacks are held accountable for all of the deaths that result from black-on-black crime in every major city around the country annually.

This double standard has done more damage than good to the black community. Far too many blacks are incapable of distinguishing real black heroes from convenient black heroes. By today’s standards the names I began this article with would probably be considered “sellouts,” especially since all but one were Republicans. Yet these are the heroes most likely to inspire most of America’s black youth still today. For whatever reason, the black community has but a handful of real heroes. As a result, we pay tribute to many people who don’t deserve our praise or affirmation.

It’s not a noteworthy accomplishment to die due to one’s own bad choices. There’s nothing heroic about thugs and crime. Americans use to keep them in their rightful place, jail. Now we can find them plastered on our kids bedroom walls. Once upon a time morality and societal pressure brought about repentance (a change of heart and behavior) in some criminal minded individuals. Unfortunately, unwarranted and violent protest like that of Ferguson, Missouri do nothing but enable and train our black youths to disregard the rule of law rather than respect it. Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin weren’t killed because they were black. They were killed because they made bad choices.

Nothing halts economic prosperity and cultural evolution of a race like the belief that dreams and justice are unattainable simply because of one’s skin color. Frankly, despite pockets of undeniable racism, we haven’t lived in that America for nearly one hundred and fifty years (perhaps 40 years in parts of the south). Blacks that pretend otherwise are complicit in the demise of their own people.

Show me a young black male that has a good dad or a strong male role model, and who can read, write, speak well and has good work ethic and I’ll show you someone who will succeed in life. Show me a black male who speaks as though English is his second language, knows the latest top ten hits on the FM dial, every reality show star on MTV, BET or ETV, and wears his pants under his butt and I’ll show you a young black angry male with little chance of success unless he makes it in the NBA, NFL, or as a hip hop star.

When I’m in the hood, I’m not concerned when I spot a police officer, I’m relieved. Law abiding citizens typically don’t have to worry about cops. Truth be known, black ladies clutch their purses in the hood too, and black men watch their backs. If there were more black heroes walking the streets of Ferguson perhaps the protestors would be more concerned with extending their hands for a handshake, rather than raising their hands to cops in surrender.

The Theft of the American Dream and the GOP’s Mandate to Restore It

0

To whom much is given much is required. As tempting as it may be, voters aren’t interested in hearing the GOP gloat about the 2014 midterms results any longer. Nationwide, voters showed up at the ballot box last Tuesday willing to loan the GOP two years to slow, and whenever possible, stop big government progressivism. What’s at stake is nothing less than the American way of life, the American Dream. America remains the world’s last best hope for freedom and economic prosperity, and we’re tired of being punished by the policies of President Obama and the radical Left for the pursuit and achievement of our goals.

Never in my lifetime have I seen a president use coercion, guilt and deprivation to stunt his fellow American’s ability to rise to their potential. It’s true that liberal policies create more poverty and dependence by encouraging voters to take advantage of government welfare rather than work, which inevitably leads to more discouraged couch potatoes. However, I’m convinced that many, if not most, liberals believed they had their constituent’s best interest at heart. I don’t believe this is the case with President Barack Obama. Modern day progressivism requires a sacrifice from both its admirers and opponents – our demise is crucial to its success.

In Dinesh D’souza’s book “America Imagine A World Without Her,” he effectively differentiates between twentieth century progressives such as former presidents Teddy Roosevelt and Woodrow Wilson, and modern progressives such as President Obama, Bill Ayers (1960s Weather Underground radical), and Ward Churchill. D’souza explained: “Roosevelt and Wilson were traditional American patriots who wanted to enact reforms, but not remake an America they believed was fundamentally good, indeed great. The new progressive ideology proceeds from a powerful left-wing critique of America, one that grew out of the 1960s and has been refined and elaborated since then. This critique builds on a single idea: theft.”

Obama believes the only reason the United States has been such a successful experiment is due to plunder and conquest of places such as Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The right thing to do, in his opinion, is to make amends or pay atonement. How? Wealth redistribution – not with his own wealth of course, but yours and mine. In a round of intellectual jiu jitsu, Dinesh D’souza argues that it is in fact modern progressives that are the real thieves: “they use the power of the state to seize the property and possessions of people who have earned them. In the name of the ordinary citizen, progressives have declared war on the wealth creators. Yet they are not on the side of the ordinary citizen, because their policies lead to stagnation, impoverishment, indebtedness, and decline-all in evidence today. It is progressives who rely on government seizure and bureaucratic conquest to achieve their goals and increase their power. We work, and they eat. Progressives have a comprehensive scheme, one that relies on deceit, to win political support for their wealth confiscation.”

In essence, the president of the “free world” believes that ordinary citizens like you and I are accomplices to Americas great crime of slavery by making the most of the opportunities our nation grants us. Thereby, simply because we’re American citizens we should feel guilty enough to voluntarily relinquish our earned assets. Additionally, if we’re not smart enough to see the error of our ways so that we willingly give up our accumulated wealth, he and his compassionate progressive allies like Lois Lerner and Eric Holder will use the power of the federal government to change our minds or bank accounts.

Americans emphatically rejected Leftism Tuesday. In part, because Democrats forgot the very people they claim to represent-“the little guy.” Consider the person who dreams of going to college, starting a business, getting a promotion or a raise, an elderly couple surviving on their retirement savings, parents raising their kids in a decent neighborhood, or simply the single parent who struggles to buy a Christmas gift for their child. They forgot about the people chasing behind the leftwing Uhaul that democrats used to cram our confiscated dreams into. Democrats neglected the “we ain’t made it yet but we want to” crowd.

In other words, liberal elitists became all they could be given the opportunities afforded to them by our great nation, then proceeded to shut the doors of success behind them. Those of us that are still in pursuit of our slice of the American dream aren’t the least bit interested in being deprived of our aspirations by people like President Obama, and we certainly aren’t going to be relegated to lifelong servitude under faculty lounge theorist.

Americans declared our independence once, and last Tuesday we did it again.

Why Democrats Despise Diversity

0

Truth be known, many on the left despise diversity. They can’t tolerate the thought of being different despite their clamoring otherwise. Leftism is a culture that lends itself to group think. Individuality is rarely tolerated. I contend that many extreme leftists promote regulation over religion because rules allow them to feel moral in our society rather than rejected by it.  Annise Parker, the openly lesbian Mayor of Houston, Texas, issued subpoenas for the sermons of five local pastors after voters rejected a “bathroom bill” that would allow mentally troubled transsexual’s to pee next to your little Sally or Tommy, This the latest example of a near perfect case and point.

I had more respect for the LGBTQ community when their mantra was “celebrate diversity.” It seemed as if their goal was to be a part of the American culture as a whole – inclusive, in other words. However, many of today’s radical homosexuals and leftist alike have moved toward an exclusionary existence where unity is no longer the goal. They’re quick to excoriate anyone who disagrees with their worldview, because their mantra of “celebrate diversity” was never true to begin with. What they’ve wanted is to be indistinguishable, and in some cases superior, but not diverse. Why? Because at some point in their personal existence they decided they’ve been rejected long enough. This is why the “gay marriage” agenda has been an ideal movement for the DNC to hi-jack; Democrats realize it’s easier to corral angry herds as opposed to rugged individuals.

People who have perceived feelings of rejection like ethnic minorities and gays, often experience emotions of forlornness. Therefore, when they enter the political realm it’s not uncommon for them to advocate for extra rights in addition to the equal rights we all enjoy under our Constitution – entitlements, in other words. Unfortunately, the DNC has capitalized on those emotions and taken up arms on their behalf, figuratively speaking of course.

It’s obvious to me that the radical Mayor Annise Parker isn’t at peace with who she is. She’s tormented. Were this not the case, she’d welcome freedom of religion instead of censorship. Religion serves as a mirror to our souls and a check on our behavior. In light of this, it’s no wonder the Mayor wants to break that mirror.

Remember the saying “dare to be different?” Conservatives interpret that as a clarion call to buck peer pressure and succeed in a free society. However, for leftists like  Mayor Annise Parker who long for normalcy and a sense of morality, those words war against their soul. Their own conscience judges them. In a sense, excessive regulation by the left  is an attempt to out-moralize the religious community. Leftists subject their constituents to more and more regulation because they find solace and morality in being able to follow “rules” better than Christians. Of course their “rules” are often unconstitutionally imposed rather than adopted. In fact, one could say that regulation satisfies the Democrat’s religious fix.

Spiritually speaking, the remedy to persuading many on the Left in the arenas of life and politics is lots of love and prayer. Practically speaking, in order for the United States to survive as the greatest nation ever known to man, we must crush them at the ballot box every time we get a chance.

If Thomas Duncan Had Survived He Should’ve Been Put In Jail

0

You would think the Left would be forthright about the dangers of encountering a new disease capable of demolishing an entire people group. Particularly, since history teaches us that Native Americans were virtually wiped out as a result of communicable diseases foreign to their immune systems brought over by Europeans. Perhaps our friends on the Left believe Americans deserve Ebola. Of this I’m uncertain. However, of these things I am certain: saving the lives of healthcare workers should take precedence over civilian lives. Secondly, Thomas Eric Duncan didn’t die because the doctors and nurses that treated him were racist. Lastly, had Thomas Duncan survived he should’ve been subjected to extensive jail time, and the same goes for his baby-mama.

Tom Frieden of the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention)  is embarassing Barack Obama like an Amateur when he isn’t embarrassing himself. How do you stop Ebola from spreading across the U.S.? The first steps to containment are simple. You start with banning all arriving flights from West Africa, then you seal the borders and stop worrying about offending black people when we have a potential national crisis on our hands. Tom Frieden had to walk back the comments he made this weekend when he prematurely stated “I think the fact that we don’t know of a breach in protocol is concerning because, clearly, there was a breach in protocol.” Obviously he was implying the nurse, turned Ebola victim, Nina Pham, was responsible for the breach of protocol despite the fact she followed the CDC’s recommendation for protective gear to a tee.

First world healthcare workers don’t deserve to be scolded by a man that contributed to allowing a third world disease on our shores! Doctors and nurses alike should receive the best of care because they are the only ones on earth capable of saving lives. Duh! When Thomas Eric Duncan died it affected his family. When doctors die it effects hundreds, and sometimes thousands of patients. When Dr. Kent Brantly and Dr. Nancy Writebol (the American missionary doctors working in conjunction with Samaritan’s Purse in Liberia) contracted Ebola, Franklin Graham chose to pay for the experimental drug ZMapp in order to save their lives. This isn’t a drug approved by the FDA as of yet. This may explain why it was administered in West Africa; nor had it ever been tested on humans before. It’s still in the experimental stage. It’s simply not widely available.

If anyone should receive treatment first, it should be those capable of saving lives. Not people like Thomas Eric Duncan who are only capable of spreading the disease. Thomas Eric Duncan was sent home from a Dallas hospital despite the fact he had a fever, but not before extensive test were done. The test were inconclusive. All these Monday morning quarterbacks most likely would not have recognized symptoms of a disease that had never made it to American shores before either. Mr. Duncan wasn’t treated effectively initially not because he was black,  Americans of all stripes simply expected Ebola to stay where it should’ve been contained, in West Africa.

Though it is a tragedy Mr. Duncan died, he knowingly and selfishly put many lives at stake in order to see the very healthcare workers many Americans take for granted today. Had he survived, he should’ve been jailed. His body was a weapon of mass destruction (WMD). Do we really believe that the mother of his long lost child who is now preparing to sue the hospital that attempted to save his life, despite the fact he was an illegal alien with no insurance, didn’t know he was infected with the disease? She should be in jail for aiding and abetting his criminal acts, not hoping for a pay day. However, in the event that she does receive a pay day, I hope Nina Pham is well enough to sue her pants off soon.
